Counting down to the new school year!

I have been busy getting everything set up for the new school year - it has been a lot of work but it has also been a lot of fun! We have painted most of the rooms in warm, calm colors. Our centers are set up, cubbies and parent pockets ready, our curriculum from Experience Early Learning is sorted and organized, and of course the list goes on! When children walk in to school I want them to immediately feel welcome and I want them to be excited to be there.

When children walk in they enter our science and math room. Everyone has their own cubby to keep their belongings, and this room is set up with science and math materials. This room will be a great space to complete our STEAM activities, which are going to be a lot of fun this year! This room also has our Parent Information wall, where parents will find helpful information. Our gross motor room also includes our snack tables and this is where art will take place. This room has a slide, balancing stones, hopscotch, a dramatic play area, and a basketball hoop. There is a parachute, tent and tunnel that will be brought out sometimes for something fun and different to do. Our other room is where circle time and literacy will take place.

I love that Experience Early Learning included materials for a Word Wall this year!

Our letters for September are B, A and H.

Parents - Check out this wall for information on what we are doing!

I am one of the bloggers for Experience Early Learning and you will see a new post every week starting in September relating to how we are using the curriculum. I love this curriculum company and am excited to blog about how we are using the materials that they have provided. I have taught with it for the past seven years and I am excited to continue using it in my own program. There is a new theme every month, and I love adding mini units that correlate with what we are learning about. Our first theme is 'All About Me.' You will see certain manipulatives, toys and activities on the shelf that relate to the theme. These switch out every month in order to keep children interested and engaged, but also promote further learning with our topic for the month.

As a new program in town I have been working on letting families know that we are here. Tilly Tots Preschool may be new to town, but I'm not and I am so excited to bring my experience to this community. This wasn't the plan when I moved back, but it's funny how things work out. I am so excited to work with the amazing families I have enrolled this year. Though some things are different because of Covid-19 we are still going to have a great year. I am working hard to create a sense of normalcy for my students and their families. Everyone's health and safety is my top priority. I can't wait to watch these kiddos grow a love for school and learning this year!

A kitchen is set up for dramatic play.
